Everyone deserves to be seen, heard and supported: Our commitment to the LGBTQ+ community
At a time when being your authentic self can come with challenges, we want you to know here at Doncaster Mind, we see you, we hear you, and we’re here for you.
Mental health support should never be one-size-fits-all. That’s why we’re proud of our key beliefs and values to ensure that mental health support is accessible to everyone.
We believe:
That everyone deserves to access to mental health support tailored to who they are; enabling them to feel listened to and heard.
We value:
Seeing potential
We know that LGBTQ+ people often face unique pressures—from navigating identity and coming out, to dealing with discrimination, isolation, or lack of understanding. That’s why our approach begins with appreciating each person for who and where they are, without assumptions or judgment.
We tailor our support to suit you, whether you’re exploring your identity, seeking a safe space to talk, or looking for long-term support, we’re here to walk alongside you with empathy and respect.
Making change
With passion and determination, we work together to focus on what’s possible by helping individuals and communities move forward.
Our commitment:
In the UK, around 3.8% of the population identify as LGBTQ+ and in Doncaster from the 2021 census, LGBTQ+ people make up 2.6%. of our community. We’ve looked at our data and 4.7% of people we've supported in the last 12 months are LGBTQ+ people, an achievement we’re really proud of BUT, there is always more that we can do!
