Volunteers Week Celebration

Celebrating Our Volunteers

On the 2nd to the 8th June here at Doncaster Mind we are celebrating Volunteers week! A homage to our amazing volunteers and the work they do. On the 5th of June we will be holding a relaxing tea party and spending time in nature with our volunteers to show our appreciation for their hard work and dedication to helping support people on their mental health journeys.

Our volunteers come to us from various paths of life and add a wide range of skills and life experience to our team with empathy as their main driving force each volunteer has their own unique life story. From true satisfaction and fulfilment, shaping a stronger, more emotionally equipped community to gaining professional experience in supporting someone in a 1-to-1 capacity which can supplement academic studies, volunteers at Doncaster Mind truly help people change their lives.

Kasia, our Children and Young People’s Volunteer Programme Coordinator, works closely with our volunteers, providing essential support and guidance in their vital roles. Hear her story here:

IMG_20240527_162552"I have the privilege of supporting volunteers who help Doncaster Mind fulfil our organisational mission of ensuring no one has to face mental health challenges alone. In the last 19 months, I witnessed volunteers exploring mental health aspects in more depth and finding reassurance in their personal and professional mission. I saw growth of skill sets and confidence and heard many success stories of students and graduates securing new job opportunities thanks to experience gained as Doncaster Mind’s volunteers. I observe each day a beautiful transition of people who enter through Doncaster Mind’s door as carriers of hope and support and leave with new experiences and skills which allow them to progress further.

I truly see Doncaster Mind’s volunteer programme not only as one of the pillars of our organisation but as a safe, encouraging and empowering environment for learning and exploring new horizons, both personally and professionally. It is my goal to ensure that each person who volunteers with us can be fully supported in fulfilling their aspirations.  We work hard on maintaining a volunteering team where everyone feels welcome, can learn at their own pace and be positively stimulated to see their full potential. I invite everyone wanting to make a difference in Doncaster’s community to join our team!" Kasia
