Bereaved by Suicide Support Service
Doncaster Mind works with Changing Lives in Doncaster to deliver talking therapy for those affected by suicide.
If you have been affected by suicide, you live in the Doncaster borough, you are age 18+ and you think that counselling is something you could benefit from, please contact us. You can self-refer using our referral form at the top of this web page, or call us on 01302 812190 (Doncaster Mind) or 01302 309809 (Changing Lives).
Once you have referred yourself, we will make contact with you within 4 weeks to offer you an initial assessment appointment. This can be in person or by telephone. The assessment appointment is a time where you can ask questions and talk about your experience so that together we can decide if counselling might be helpful for you.
Counselling sessions are flexible to meet your needs, and we will explore at assessment how best to support you throughout the counselling process. The counselling service is coordinated by a qualified counsellor with the lived experience of being bereaved by suicide along with volunteer counsellors who have gained valuable experience in working with complex grief.
Once you have been allocated with a counsellor you will have scheduled appointments at the Changing Lives Hub in Princess Street or via arranged telephone sessions. Counselling provides the opportunity for an individual to talk about the loss and work through difficult emotions. It could be that a referral to a different service or professional would be a better option and we will be helpful in supporting you to access this if required.
Please call us if you would like any further details about this service.
