This qualification in First Aid for Mental Health provides a comprehensive introduction to the wide range of mental health issues, and identifies the signs and symptoms, so you can learn how to respond in a mental health crisis.

You will learn how to support someone who may be feeling overwhelmed or distressed, as well as knowing the best way to provide basic care and treatment to prevent a mental health crisis from escalating.

It provides essential knowledge of the different types of mental health issues, the support networks available, and strategies for assisting others in their recovery.

This qualification equips you with the confidence and expertise to provide the best care to those around you, and contribute to the support of positive mental health.

FAA-2c-Association

This training package consists of nationally recognised qualifications accredited by First Aid Awards. Different levels of qualification that are available give you an option to chose the training that is suitable for your organisation and your budget.

1Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health (FAA)

This 2-Day course goes into detail on a wide range of mental health conditions and the support and help provided by healthcare professionals. It covers the content of both the Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications and is aimed at supervisor/Mental Health First Aider level within the workplace.

A range of First Aid for Mental Health related subjects are covered including:

  • What is First Aid for Mental Health? 
  • First Aid for Mental Health action plan 
  • Providing advice and starting a conversation 
  • Stress 
  • Mental health conditions 
  • Drugs and alcohol 
  • Identifying mental health conditions

A Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. This qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement.

2Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health (FAA)

This 1-Day course covers the content of the Level 1 course but also expands on the effects of drugs and alcohol, incorporates the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan and covers ways in which a positive mental health culture can be supported within a workplace.

 

A range of First Aid for Mental Health related subjects are covered including:

  • What is First Aid for Mental Health?
  • Identifying mental health conditions
  • Providing advice and starting a conversation
  • Stress
  • Mental health conditions
  • Drugs and alcohol
  • First Aid for Mental Health action plan

This qualification is suitable for anyone who actively connects with children such as parents, carers, teachers, youth group leaders and young adults.

  • First aid action plan for mental health

A Level 2 Award in First Aid for Youth Mental Health will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. The qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement.

This course is suitable for everyone within a workplace as it provides learners with the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions as well as the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost a person towards professional help.
